This pre-license course is designed to prepare students for the Michigan Licensing Exam and serves as a standalone, 6-hour course that addresses both national and state civil rights legislation and regulations directly related to the practice of real estate.

This course provides a brief historical overview of national civil rights issues, specifically as they relate to real estate, including historical discriminatory practices. Federal legislation is examined, and specific, important laws are presented and discussed, including Fair Housing Laws and the ADA.

This course also provides an overview of significant state-level legislation in Michigan that will directly affect the activities of licensees. Michigan-specific topics include an examination of the State of Michigan Persons with Disabilities Civil Rights Act, the Elliott-Larsen Civil Rights Act, and applications of the American Disabilities Act at the state level.

To reinforce learning, the course includes knowledge checks, quizzes, and interactive activities designed to enhance comprehension and practical application of real estate principles.
